THE 7 MUST-HAVE APPS YOU NEED AS A CONTENT CREATOR IN 2021
Your content is your golden ticket, and using any 7 of the best apps mentioned will help you daily. It’s the foundation for increasing your income through blogging, social media, partnerships, collaborations, and more. The possibilities are endless when it comes to your creative vision. I always tell my clients and friends, don’t look at content creation as a huge task. Simplify it!

You guessed it! They are utilizing the bulk of their workload from their smartphones. Who would’ve thought this could be a sustainable thing to do? To make a living online simply by creating around what you love. Check out my picks for 7 of the best apps to use daily as a content creator.
Let’s get into seven of the best apps you need as a content creator or content curator.
1) MILANOTE: As a creative, you are most likely led by visuals. This app allows you to organize your notes, links, and images to create a mood board that directly reflects whatever concepts you want to bring to life. The best part about this app is that you can use it on your phone as well as your desktop. Seeing your notes and photos organized accordingly on a larger screen keeps you motivated to get the work done.
Milanote is pretty easy to navigate and also offers pre-built templates to use, so you don’t have to worry about figuring everything out all at once. Another bonus to the Milanote app is that you can collaborate with others on a project through the app, comment, send updates, and sync to your iCloud.
2) DAYUSE: Depending on what type of content creator you are, you might get overwhelmed by constantly creating at home or in a coffee shop. The Dayuse app allows you to create content on location for a day rate. This app is especially good for travel content, blog content, and designers looking to shoot lookbooks on the go. Once you get on the app, you will be able to book hotels for a single-day rate.
Some hotels even offer smaller time blocks if you need to do a quick photoshoot.
This app has grown very nicely considering all the hotels popping up on the app. Each hotel lists its prices, and you do not need to pre-book your shoots. Simply use the calendar to see what times are available and book it.
3) CANVA: I know, I know! You knew this was coming, hahaha! The Canva app is amazing. I use the paid version of the app because I create lots of content for myself and my clients. However, you can get away with using the free version and still create the content you love. The best part of using Canva is its ease of use. You can start projects from scratch or use one of the templates they offer per category. If you are not already using the Canva design app, try it out ASAP!
4) LIGHTROOM: Oh, Em Gee! You haven’t experienced photo editing until you’ve used the Lightroom app. Simply put, most content creators have a specific style. aesthetic, especially on Instagram. Even if you don’t have your signature style yet, this app will be beneficial to you as well. The perk of using the Lightroom app is that you can create presets. Your presets are the final edits you make to a specific photo. So, let’s say you are taking lots of outdoor photos in the summer.
You can edit one of those photos, color grade it exactly how you like, and save that final edit as “summer outside.” For every outdoor photo you take during the summer, you can just click your preset, and that’s it. All of your photos have the same look and feel. You can create as many as you want to complement the different settings. I know you’ve seen influencers selling presets, right? It’s a great way to make a nice side income as well.
5) PINTEREST: Now there’s a reason why I listed Pinterest as a separate social tool. I love pinning things to my boards. It’s the coolest way to create online mood boards. The beautiful thing about Pinterest is that once you post your content there, it provides one of the best backlinks to your site. Pinterest is a search engine as well, and as a content creator, it is such a nice way to gather inspiration.
Honestly, you need to create a Pinterest account because they are adding new features, and the longevity of your content being found is a great free investment for a return on engagement. See what I did there? hahaha!
6) PLANOLY: Firstly, you have your videos, photos, and concepts ready to go, but you need to visually see how things look side by side. Planoly allows you to organize your Instagram grid and post to other platforms as well. Secondly, you can caption and schedule your post, but most importantly, this is a great app for seeing your entire social media strategy.
Whenever I’m getting ready for a campaign or a lookbook for my brand, I love that I can see how I want my marketing to look. I know what needs to be posted for engagement, and I know what needs to follow. Planning is how you get to enjoy your business.
7) MOJO: This might be unexpected, but I find myself utilizing this app more and more. We’ve covered photo apps, but here’s an app you need for interactive video content. I use this for Instagram stories as well as TikTok and Pinterest. You can even use this app for Facebook.
Moreover, the MOJO app provides different templates, such as fashion, storytelling, scrapbooking, marketing, and more, for you to choose from to create cool videos. I use the paid version because you get access to all the templates, and it’s worth the subscription if you want different edits. Since I’ve been using this app more frequently, my social media analytics have grown. In other words, it’s worth testing out. Give it a try.
